Chetty Cup Tournament Rules
General Rules:
- No Fighting: Zero tolerance. Participants involved will be ejected and banned from the remainder of the tournament.
- Co-Ed Division: Requires at least one female player on the rink at all times.
- Penalties:
- Minor penalties last 1 minute.
- Major penalties last 3 minutes.
- Three major penalties result in suspension for the remainder of the tournament.
- Referee Discretion: Misconduct penalties can be issued for unsportsmanlike conduct, leading to immediate ejection and a suspension for the next game.
- Respect for Officials: No tolerance for abuse; penalties range from minor to ejection based on the offense.
- Time-Outs: Each team gets a single 60-second time-out, with no additional time-outs in Overtime.
- Ball Out of Play: Play stops if the ball hits the roof or netting; restarts in the defensive zone.
- Penalty Box: Players must manage the door themselves.
- Head Referee: Trevor Jarvis holds final decision authority on rule interpretations and penalties.
Seeding Round:
- Game Structure: 3 periods of 10 minutes each, with stop time.
- Mercy Rule: Clock changes to running time at a 6-goal lead, game ends at an 8-goal lead.
- Scoring Points:
- Wins: 2 points
- Ties: 1 point
- Losses: 0 points
- Tiebreakers:
- Head-to-Head results
- Goal Differential
- Least Penalty Minutes
- Coin Flip
Playoffs:
- Format: Single elimination games with the same period structure as the seeding round.
- Mercy Rule: Identical to the seeding round.
- Overtime: If tied, a 3-minute 4 vs 4 overtime occurs.
- Shootout: Follows overtime if still tied, beginning with 3 vs 3 and moving to sudden death if necessary.
Championship Game:
- Identical structure and rules to the playoffs, with specific note to the mercy rule and tiebreaker procedures.
Additional Notes:
- Unforeseen Circumstances: Tournament officials reserve the right to alter the schedule or rules in response to unforeseen circumstances affecting the contractual time with the rink.
